Josephine 5th Summer

Was the day The Josephine Sandal in Black Multi made its debut. We collaborated with Milan Drake (@MilanBomb) on Instagram, this would be the brands very first collaboration. The two pictures Milan posted that day would not only bring in sales and followers, they also got the attention of the fashion blogs. The combination of the background and Gucci bag helped set the stage for what would become the brands most successful collaboration to date. As we get closer to July 29th 2022, in celebration of the 5th summer of The Josephine Feathered Sandal. Let’s take a moment to look back to see how it all got started.

Contrary to popular belief the Black Multi was not the first Josephine Sandal. In fact the Caramel Multi was. I released the Caramel Multi Josephine a month earlier, in June 2018.
On June 18th, TV Host Tanika Ray (@TanikaRay) posted a picture in her story on Instagram with the Caramel Multi on and the caption “Stepping out on a Monday like what”. Although we never actually saw a full body picture of her in the shoes, she will go down as the first celebrity to put on my shoes.
With a successful collaboration with one Drake sister, we decided a year later to see if we could make magic happen twice. This time with the older Sister Dej (@DejGabrielle). Dej would prove to be the right person for the Caramel Multi collab, picking up where her sister Milan left off and giving the Caramel Multi an instant boost in popularity. By simply pairing the sandal with camouflage pants, vest and white teeshirt. She would be the first to wear the shoe with camouflage but defiantly not the last.
With the Black Multi becoming the brands most popular shoe from its release. Mixed with the Milan collab, I would collaborate with Sydney Kaitlyn (@SydneyKaiitlyn) at that time she was going by King Kaitlyn on IG. I came across her profile on the explore page and liked her look so much that we would collaborate on other styles over the years.
If we are going to talk about the history of The Josephine Sandal, especially the Black Multi. Moniece Slaughter (@Moniece_Slaughter) of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood gets credit for being the first celebrity to wear my shoes. On March 6th 2019, she wore the Black Multi on her Birthday inadvertently Introducing my brand to Celebrity Fashion Stylist Sir Joe Exclusive (@SirJoeExclusive). After this post Sir Joe DM’ed The Josephine Valerie Instagram page asking if we would like to take part in his annual BET Awards weekend fashion Show. When I didn’t hear back from him I bought two front row seats to the show and a plane ticket to Los Angles. Before returning to New York, oh and I missed my flight so I had to stay in LA a few more hours and catch the next one. During that time I had a phone conversation with Joe and hired him to do product placement and branding. Joe would go on to getting The Josephine on Summer Walker, and other celebrities.

What’s next for The Josephine Sandal
Since summer of 2018 I have released The Josephine in more colors and materials, with the latest being the Apple Green Multi set to release July 29th 2022. This colorway sports a vibrant green calfskin leather with bright blue suede feather holders and signature red thread like every other Josephine before it.
